it's thursday and time for a special edition of
last week i came up with a few images to celebrate crosby's birthday:
we have been collecting old-school tonka trucks for this little mister since before he was born. bri had the whole collection as a kid and spent a lot of time playing in the yard with them (hmm... some things never change - just bigger toys now - hee hee!)
i printed the image and made a onsie for crosby just like this project.
1. sewn streamers (see this tutorial - so easy and fun!!!) 2. old-school tonka truck... i actually filled this with crosby's dirt cake, 3. yellow flower pot with dirt cake... this was crosby's personal cake, 4. custom party signage, 5. custom party confetti pieces (dump trucks & no.1), 6. black&white photos from crosby's 1st year that went up on a poster.
i also used the images to tie his birthday party together...
a few close-ups of the details. i love that the yellow is so cheery!
i should also mention that crosby got to celebrate with his cousins the weekend before. he devoured a special truck/rock cake that his super talented grandma made him.
he is a very loved little boy!

at 8am on this date last year, we checked into the hospital expecting to have our baby shortly after arriving. but, he had a different plan. so we waited and waited... and waited some more and at 10pm crosby james made our family whole. everyone there (mom, dad, d, grandma, mum and moe) fell in love immediately. he is one spectacular little person and we truly love him to bits.
through almost loosing him at the hospital and a year that was more challenging than most, crosby has kept me grounded, focused and has pushed me to live with intent. i feel so lucky to be the momma of such an amazing little person. getting to enjoy time at home with him has been a gift - we are excited to see you grow!
at one year you have 5 teeth... almost 8 if you count the few that are barely showing. you still think it's funny to bite, but for the most part you have gotten more gentle about it.
at one year you still love to dance and turn on the charm. you have become more clingy and a little shy with new friends. you copy funny faces that your sister and i make. at home you are my shadow and in the yard you like to help out by digging in the dirt beside me. you are such a sweet little love... your company makes me happy.
more notes...
food: you are are no longer nursing and will be moving on to whole milk in a few days. while you still love avocados and cheese your current favorite is blueberries. you even ate salad the other day with no complaints!
health: you are right on track. a healthy happy boy... aside from the bumps and bruises from learning how to cruise around that is.
play: you enjoy going in the pool with the big kids. you think it's a game to lay back in the water when someone is holding you and i think you would float if we tried. unfortunately you refuse to hold your breath under water even for a quick dunk. you love listening to your sister read to you... in the car, in your crib, on the floor in your room.
talk: you have been doing a funny babble-talk lately that sounds like a different language. it makes us smile. you also think it's funny to screech when someone is bothering you. poor d gets that reaction the most... even if she just looks at you!
sleep: you are back on track with sleeping well and even taking two naps a day again. we'll see how long it lasts once the lazy summer days are over.
crosby james, i have known my whole life that i wanted you... you were worth the wait. we could not have planned a more perfect addition to our family and circle of friends. i love you with all that i am.
happy birthday sweet love!!!

i was going through photos from crosby's first year and i found these:
i took these back in may when we got a taste of warm weather. we filled his tray with water and each time he slapped his hand down it would splash him in the face. the cold water would take his breath away causing him to make a silly face.
such a funny boy!
hope your weekend is filled with fun.

at 10 months you have four teeth... 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. and they are sharp! you think it's hilarious when i tell you not to bite me. good thing you're cute.
at 10 months you pull yourself up on everything, but you refuse to let go. you love to dance when you hear music. your sister and i are impressed with your rhythm - you crack us up!
at 10 months you LOVE to flirt with all of the ladies! you scrunch up your nose and sport a goofy grin... i imagine your daddy did something similar as a little mister. trouble.
at 10 months you have sweet dimpled hands and feet. it's either socks or bare-feet for you... i can't seem to squish your flinstone feet into shoes - hee hee!
at 10 months you respond to, "how big is the baby?!" and you almost wave. when you're in a silly mood you give me kisses and wave your arms wildly in my face. you are still mellow most of the time and seem to take in the world around you with those big beautiful eyes... oh, and you're finally getting a
little hair!
at 10 months your personality gets brighter everyday!
more notes...
food: you are eager to try new foods and are phasing out nursing. everyday when i eat lunch, you crawl up into my lap so you can share.
health: you had your first ear infection this month. even though the extra cuddle time was welcome, it was sad to see you feeling so badly... you barely wanted to crawl.
play: you love water! you blow bubbles at bathtime and happily splash in the water with your sister outside.
talk: you say dada, momma and something that sounds like more. you are super talkative and we love your happy noises. when i don't get you from your crib fast enough, you definitely make angry screeches. when you are being silly, you growl at us!
sleep: you were doing really well with a consistent sleep schedule, but being sick threw you off... here's hoping we're back on track soon.
at 10 months we could not be more completely in love with you!
